The adjectives ending in – ing are used to describe the effect someone or something has on other:

 

boring, amazing, annoying, exciting, interesting, pleasing, tiring

 

Let's compare:

 

he is bored = he has nothing to do

he is boring = other people do not find him interesting

 

he is amazing = he is very good

he is amazed = he is extremely surprised

 

he is annoyed = he is angry because a person or an event has made him feel angry

he is annoying = he is making other people feel angry

 

he is excited = he is very happy

he is exciting = he is making other people feel happy

 

he is interested = he gives his attention to something

he is interesting = other people pay attention to him because he is unusual

 

he is pleased = he is satisfied
